We were quoted $98 a night per room. When we paid, we found out that we were charged $15 a night for occupants three and four in each room per night - even though there were two double beds in each room. So, at $128 a night, we could have gone to a resort with beach access.
It seemed like it was in a shady neighborhood. It was a run-down inn with lots of steps. What appeared to be drug paraphernalia littered the street.
Also, our hairdryer did not work in one room, and the sheets were dirty in the other room. We lost electricity two times in three days.
In addition, one pool could not be used, and there was a strict rationing on breakfast... refill on coffee was not allowed. |

Once again, Bunker Hill is the best! Visited: April 2008 |

Again, we chose to stay at Bunker Hill pre- and post- our BVI charter. We had a one-night stay both times in an island where many hotels don't permit one night stays.
The front desk staff, Donna, Bevan and Angela were fantastic, and now recognize us when we walk in. As reported in my previous reviews - as well as others comments, the place is small but inexpensive, convenient, clean and basic.
The small pool is just enough to cool down in. Also, the full breakfast is just enough to fill you up until lunch. The hotel is close enough to walk and save on cabs. The ferry is a 15-minute walk (we did it this year both to and from the hotel with wheeled carry-ons with no issue and no hurry).
We enjoyed the Greenhouse Restaurant on the waterfront. Ask for Carolyn or Marvin as your waitstaff. You can enjoy two-for-one drinks and reduced priced appies during happy hour. The Happy Buzzard is also on the waterfront for $10 entrees, and the Petite Pump Room above the ferry dock for $2.50 for bagel/cream cheese and awesome mimosas.
The best jewelry stores are Chalet D'Or, Grand, and Ballerina - all on Main Street.
We only stayed two nights, and we continue to enjoy our brief stays. We are thinking of going for a couple days pre- and post- next year. Enjoy! |

Location plus price, equals a great choice. Visited: April 2007 |

Once again, we chose to stay at Bunker Hill hotel for a one-night stay both before and after a boat charter in the BVIs.
We stayed the first night in a standard room ($100), and it was basic and acceptable. For our last night, we requested an upgrade to superior - a difference of $30 and had a balcony. We had a view over Charlotte Amalie, and a recently refurbished room.
In my opinion, either room was fine, but I preferred the one with the view as it was brighter. Every room came with a great little pool - five feet deep, several news loungers and patio furniture on the pool deck.
There was also a full breakfast - not huge, but enough to get you to lunch. Also, the front desk staff, Devon and Angela, were great.
There was a convenience store immediately next door with beer and wine coolers, and any grocery or toiletry item you might need. There was also a bit bigger convenience store across the street.
The walk to the downtown shops, restaurants, and sights was less than five minutes. You could walk to the ferry terminal, but with bags and young kids this time, we took a $5 cab. The airport was an $8 cab away.
With the great price, no hassle breakfast, and very convenient location, we continue to return to Bunker Hill Hotel and are already planning a stop for our BVI trip next year. |

This was a great place! Visited: November 2006 |

Last November, my husband and I spent four nights on St. Thomas and stayed at the Bunker Hill Hotel. It was a small, quiet place in the heart of the downtown historic district. It's not the Ritz, but it's a great value.
I must admit that I was skeptical at first. I've only ever stayed at the larger chains, but those other hotels were just so much more expensive! Staying here allowed us to have more money to spend on shopping and entertainment. As a result, we had an exceptional time.
Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's truly a great little place.
Oh, and I almost forgot, because it is literally 30 seconds from Main St. and another 30 seconds from the waterfront, we saved a bundle on taxi fare (taxis were very expensive on the island, and they charged by the person!).
We highly recommend it, especially if you're on a budget and would like to shop more. You'll get your money's worth. |

Our group of four adults stayed pre- and post- our BVI boat charter, and Bunker Hill was perfect for us. We walked to shops in Charlotte Amalie, and went for a swim at the hotel. We also enjoyed dinner at the Greenhouse Restaurant, then nightcaps on our balcony overlooking the harbour and town.
Everything was a four- to five-minute leisurely stroll. On our return night post charter, we shopped again and ate at the Happy Buzzard restaurant.
The Bunker Hill staff was wonderful and helpful. The full breakfast was more than we needed, and the views and breezes were awesome.
Our room was very clean with a newly tiled large walk-in shower. The room also had a half-size bar fridge. We are booking here again for our next boat charter. |

I just wanted to write and let you know what a pleasant stay we had at Bunker Hill. It was the cleanest place and it was very quaint.
We appreciated the complementary breakfast and coffee as well as the ride to the airport. We will recommend Bunker Hill to anyone coming to the island and would certainly stay here in the future. |

I rate this hotel five stars! It's perfect to come into before or after a cruise, to stay here economically while you day-trip around the Virgin Islands, or just to drop down to the islands for some sun in the middle of a cold winter! No, it's not the Ritz, but it's clean, close in, and employ terrific staff!
Sitting on a patio with a beautiful view enjoying your hot cooked breakfast, doesn't get any better. I visit the Virgin Islands every year. I go to appreciate the local people, the scenery, and just that tropical air!
There is no spa, olympic-sized pool or lounge with a live band, but what you do get for the money is well worth the visit. See you there! |

We really liked our stay at this hotel! We visited St. Thomas in August and we had a room with a balcony which offered a beautiful view of downtown!
Also, the staff was very kind and friendly, from the receptionist to the lady who made breakfast! We felt very welcomed! Much success to your business and have a great, fantastic and healthy 2003! |

The view was lovely and the staff was great. However, I feel that this property is in the heart of a bad area. Plus we had no hotwater. The owner's nephew was a doll and helped us transfer to another facility. He did try to rectify the situation. |

I stayed at Bunker Hill Hotel June 5-6, 2000 and I was very happy. It was very clean, the staff were helpful and it was a short walk to town. Even the walk back was easy.
We had a complimentary breakfast which was good and also a free ride to the airport. Our Room (32) had a patio with a view of the pool and a great view of the hillside. It was beautiful all lit up at night and the patio was a great place to lounge around and relax.
We will definitely be back to stay at Bunker Hill Hotel again! |
