When I read the other reviews I was sceptical that it could be that good. It was! Sue and Buddy were the best. Whatever we needed they would furnish it even WD 40 for removing sticker glue. We loved the place, the views, everything. There were four of us that shared a double bedroom room. So pretty and clean. The bananas off her tree were so good. If or when we go back we will surely stay at The Green Iguana again. Thanks Sue and Buddy! People like you are what makes a good vacation great.

Resort is nice but rooms need upgrade (rough towels, sticky floor, old bathroom). Bed was good. We stayed near pool. Spa is not worth it. Gym is good. Pool is nice, beach is clean, watersport offerings are excellent! Staff not consistent. Eat outside hotel - go downtown for dinner. Buffet breakfast is not good at hotel. St john's is awesome. Going back - just not to Westin.

My fiance and I had the lunch buffet in the cafe here after hanging out at the beach. The food was mediocre at best. The lunch buffet was also $35 per person. Plus, there were birds hanging out on the buffet picking at the food, which was really gross. My fiance didn't finish eating a piece of sausage cause he said it tasted funny. When we got back to our hotel, he started throwing up- it was definitely food poisoning. He spent the next three hours in the bathroom.
Assuming this was a fluke, the food was still way overpriced for what it was.
It was convenient though because it was right on the beach.

Off season rate was as high as any hotel around but my room was very uncomfortable. The bed was great. The sliding doors to the balcony wouldn't close completely and the handle was missing which left a hole for mosquitos to enter. The window a/c unit was very loud and kept the room only so-so cool. The kitchen was dark and sticky, the dishes were not clean. The manager simply said they are in the process of renovation. Can't possible enjoy the setting in such a tacky room. Wish I had tken pictures.

The Divi is amazing! The beach is beautiful, and there are beautiful mountains everywhere on this side of the island.
We stayed in Christiansted the first night at Sugar Beach. When we checked out and came to the Divi, I thought I had died and went to heaven. Sugar Beach was a dump in the middle of the projects compared to the Divi.
Yes, the Divi is about 15-minutes out on the east side of the island. However, just rent a car, and you will feel like you are in paradise at the Divi.
Also, there were some great restaurants on that side of St. Croix - Cheeseburger in Paradise, East End Pizza, Starlite Grille, Chicken Charlies, and a few delis as well.
The Divi was clean and well kept. They had nice staff, with friendly bartenders, too. We were here during hurricane Omar, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the way the Divi handled things.
I will definitely go back to the Divi. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in St. Croix! Stay at the Divi, rent a car, and explore St. Croix. You will love it!

My boyfriend and I stayed here one night a few weeks ago. We were supposed to stay eight days, but checked out as soon as we could.
The office was closed when we arrived, or we would have just left immediately. The beach was not pretty (compared to the gorgeous beaches around the island). Also, the decor looked old and outdated, and there were stains on our sheets and curtains.
When we asked to check out, no one even asked us why we were leaving seven days early! Instead, while I was trying to pay for the one night, they went behind my back and charged my debit card for three nights stay.
My travel agent called the next morning, and after two days of talking to them, convinced them to give me one nights credit on my debit card. They still never asked why we checked out. Apparently they don't care to better their motel.
I was very unhappy with this place, the location, the beach, and the very dishonest and uncaring staff. I will never visit Sugar Beach again, and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
The east end of the island is beautiful, and the beaches are amazing. It's paradise! Don't settle for this place, though, check around.

I have read many negative reviews of Caneel ranging from safety issues to service and accommodations. Everyone has their own opinion based on how well their expectations were met (assuming nothing terrible happened!).
Caneel is not about being plush or pampering. Caneel is about an environment and group of people who do everything they can do to help a person enjoy the most lush property, and the most beautiful, fantastic beaches in the Caribbean.
My wife and I have been twice in four years - with this visit the best. Transfers between St. Thomas and Caneel were perfect .
Our room was upgraded (we stayed in #2). The champagne was chilled, and the beds and AC were fantastic. The staff was extremely accommodating, and the boat crew was wonderful (we went back and forth to St. Thomas four times). Also, the breakfast buffet was more than adequate and tasty.
Is it the Waldorf? No. However, my wife and I, the staff, and the people who return year and after year don't want it to be. It is perfection in a way only Caneel can deliver.

We just returned from Easy Breezes yesterday, and are already missing it! St. John has so much to offer, one trip isn't enough. Easy Breezes is located half way up a mountain, so views are amazing! This was truly paradise.
We will be returning!

My boyfriend and I visited The Bunker Hill Inn November of 2007, and had a fantastic time. We stayed in a large suite, with a mini refrigerator; a stand-up shower that was cleaned daily; an AC; TV; a bed that seemed larger than king sized; and a balcony overlooking the downtown area.
The staff was polite, hospitable and courteous.
We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. My boyfriend and I are vegetarians, and were unable to eat the sausages and other meats served, though. We purchased our own vegetarian products from a local market, and asked the cook to prepare them for us. They had no problem fulfilling our request. As thanks, we left a tip every morning.
The only thing that was a negative, was that they did not have an elevator. So, if you have a heavy load, or hate climbing stairs, you'll have to select another hotel. We used the stairs as our daily exercise.
I loved the hotel because it was affordable, and near the shopping areas and restaurants.
When you come here, you have to try the lobster at Green House. It was delicious! My boyfriend ate so much I thought he would turn into a lobster. Enjoy!

Cottages by the Sea is a great place to stay.Visited: June 2007

I love Cottages by the Sea. My husband and I stay each and every time we go - which is every year. My husband is a native, and Cottages is so convenient for us to visit with relatives.
The staff is wonderful, and always eager to help. Paul is the best host, and I consider him a friend. I can't wait to go back.

Simone and Sheryl are the best hosts! We were looking for a relaxing place, and found it at Sand Castle on the Beach.
The hotel is clean, and the staff is warm. The food is awesome - though the complimentary continental breakfast could use some more options.
Pay the extra for a larger room, because they have kitchens. I also recommend a rental car if you want to get to Christiansted for a night out (as Frederiksted doesn't have as many options and the restaurant is closed on Tues/Wed.).

We were here for seven nights. He had a great view from our room (5336). We also had privacy, and the room was clean.
Most every staff member here was friendly. Karl, the manager, was great! Coco Joe's had good food, but I don't think they care if you starve to death before they serve you.
Frenchman's Reef is in no way as nice as Morning Star. I went there for one night for hurricane evacuation. I encountered rude management. Also, the first floor smelled of mold.

A couple buildings were being jack hammered so that they could tear out a section of one side of the wall at a time and work around the entire building to re-pour concrete in. I was told it was to fix cracks caused by 30 years of earthquakes.
That would never fly in the states, and I pray for future occupants when the upper and lower seams of
The newly poured concrete seperates from the original walls. FYI what grade of concrete do you think they have on the islands? I would think definitely not enough (strength/ lbs per square inch) to support many stories above it.
Two of the pools have jack hammered holes in them, and are closed for construction.
WiFi is only at the lobby, and we couldn't pay to get it in the room.
The front desk and management were very rude, and did not seem to be interested in being friendly or happy. Forget asking about WiFi, fixing the cable that went down every other hour, or other stuff because they just seemed to want to check you in and take your money.
The activities girl, Kim, and the people at the bar were amazingly refreshing and a highlight of the resort.

We really liked Calypso del Sol.Visited: November 2007

This was the first time we rented a villa on St. John, and we really liked Calypso del Sol. The views at sunset were gorgeous, looking out over Chocolate Hole and toward the sound.
Although the villa was close to the road, there was a lot of vegetation to give you privacy, and there wasn't much traffic.
The large pool was fantastic at the end of a day on the beach, and an equisite spot for star gazing at night. The floorplan was great for two of us because the master suite was off the living quarters. However, if you have kids, you may not like that the other two bedrooms are only accessible by going out onto the deck and down stairs to a lower deck.
All in all, it was a great place to stay and very convenient to Cruz Bay and the beaches.

The Esprit Villa was an excellent location for my journey because of its unprecedented central location, giving me the quickest access to any spot on the island. Whether I wanted to visit Cruz Bay or Coral Bay, I found the journeys not as demanding as could be if I were down in the Bays themselves. Set high on Mt. Bordeaux, Esprit Villa offers an excellent common ground for the entire island.
As for the the villa itself, I felt the comforts, the conveniences, and the even the luxuries modern homes provide. The best part to me, though, was the view. Waking up in the morning and sipping tea or coffee on the multitude of porches was a luxury I will never misplace.
The sheer beauty of the landscape around you is a foresight to peace of mind you achieve by weeks end. Slopping mountain sides, tropical forests, and angelic waters warmed my soul like no other exposure could permit. If you are the type of person who admires nature like me, this place will surely set your perspectives straight for the irreplaceable beauty this planet has to offer.
The seclusive location of Esprit is unmatched by any villa on the island. It sits among pure nature, something you can't get at the lower altitudes. These lower villas tend to be urbanized. The island is 70% +/- Nationally Protected land.
A vacation here is for those who want to experience pure island life without all the capitalization of developed lands. Esprit is the perfect setting. Enjoy the beauty!

We took our family vacation at Maho this summer. What a way to reconnect!
There were no televisions or game rooms to compete with. We walked down the trail to Big Maho beach every morning looking for iguanas and birds.
The food there was unbelievable. The evening meals were things such as cornish game hens, large breaded pork chops, seafood, and more. There were a few choices each night, and then the best breakfast of made to order eggs, toasts, juices, etc.
The kids loved going to glass blowing demonstrations and hiking the property. There were lots of people of all ages- young families, elderly couples, honeymooners, college groups, etc.
It was not fancy- you are in a glorified tent and have use a bath house, but they have all you need. It was great clean, quiet, and peaceful fun.
Just be prepared for a lot of walking/hiking. There were lots of stairs, so pack lightly. You really do not need very many clothes- just bathing suits, shorts, tennis shoes, hats, etc.

I took my daughters for a Spring Break Mother/Daughter trip, and this was a perfect place for us.
It was directly across a dirt road from the water, but not a beach. There was a nice pool - and the best view of Charlotte Amalie Harbor and the sea. Every room had a water view!
There were several great places to eat within a few minutes walk down the dirt road- even a great coffee house/beakfast place. We rented a car and were only a short drive to Magens Bay Beach, which is one of the best in the Caribbean.
The managers were helpful and live on-site, so they were there to give advice, directions, etc. We would come here again!

We stayed for a week with a family group of 26. The hotel was dirty, disorganized and boring.
The food was ridiculously expensive, $11 for a plain waffle.
The staff was rude and unfriendly to us. They seemed to pretend they could not hear us when we asked for something, like perhaps a refill on coffee (which was $3 a cup - and not even good!).
The only positive thing was the beach, it was beautiful.
Transportation into town was also very expensive, and everyone seemed to want only one thing - tips and your money. I don't think they would have blinked if we would have dropped dead.
I'm sorry to be such a downer, but once you have been to Hawaii and know what quality is, St. Thomas and the Marriott stinks.
